How It’s Made: The New Atlanta Motor Speedway, From Start To Finish To First Laps!

Building a race track of any size is a real undertaking, but building one the size of a NASCAR oval is something else. But what about taking an existing track and completely remodeling it? Well it’s 2022 so technology was used to not only shape the dirt, the asphalt, and the new 28 degree banks, but also to see what these changes would look and feel like before any dirt was moved. They used the new design, entered into iRacing systems, so they could try it out beforehand to make sure the changes would be what they wanted. Of course, there are still a lot of people, heavy equipment, and machines being used to make the actual earth move, but it’s a mix of brute force, creativity, and technology that make it all happen.

The entire project had to happen in six months and they pulled it off for the first race that happened less than a month ago.

This is a cool show on how it all worked and was put together. You’ll dig it.
