Do you ever find yourself standing in front of a rack full of wheel cleaners at O’Reilly Auto Parts wondering which one actually works worth a darn, and whether you should buy the one for $7.99 or $17.99? I do, and then I often get home and find they don’t do nearly the miracle transformation that I was imagining while standing in front of said rack. But I can’t afford to go buy 5 or 10 different wheel cleaners just to try them all out. Thankfully Project Farm has a keen sense of smell when it comes to BS claims and loves putting stuff to the test. In this case, he’s pitting several brands of wheel cleaners up against each other to see how they rank and if you should use your hard earned money on them.

Check out the results below and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

Brands: Meguiar’s, ArmorAll, Mothers, Hybrid Solutions, NASCAR, Black Magic, Adams, 303, Exoforma. Wheel and tire cleaners compared for performance at removing brake dust, cleaning tire with and without scrubbing, dissolving grease, damage to clear coat, and damage to untreated aluminum.

I purchased all of the wheel and tire cleaners and supplies used to compare the products to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you for supporting the channel.

We talk about junkyard LS engines all the time around here, and I’ve personally had LS powered vehicles with nearly 300,000 miles on them. Hell, one of them gave up it’s engine for one of Richard Holdener’s Big Bang projects and made over 1,400 horsepower on the original rods, pistons, rings, bearings, and crankshaft, with over 279,000 miles on them. So let’s say you find a 250,000 to 300,000 mile Silverado that runs and drives but could use some love. Is it worth fixing it up a bit in order to make it into a nice driver?

In this video from Project Farm, he’s going to take his analytic approach to deciding what is worth fixing up and what isn’t. I think you can save a lot of vehicles, if I didn’t I wouldn’t be a hot rodder, but that doesn’t mean they are always a smart project. So what do we think?

Let’s watch the video and see what his conclusions are and how that fits with what we, as hot rodders, think.

Video Description:

Most people get rid of vehicles well before 300,000 miles, often times due to concerns about reliability. So, let’s go through a vehicle that has over 300,000 miles on it from top to bottom and front to back to prepare this vehicle for another 100,000 reliable miles! Includes rust repair, front end rebuild, complete tune up, axle hub bearing replacement, fluid changes, new brakes and rotors, front end alignment, headlight bulb replacement, MAF sensor cleaning, tensioner pulley bearing replacement, fan clutch replacement, axle seal replacement, and A/C freon level check.

I purchased all of the parts and supplies used for this vehicle. So, thank you for supporting the channel!

Automotive brakes have come a long way since the 1960’s, and that means that you no longer have to live with brakes that only work well a couple of times in a row. With high performance brake systems like the Classic Series from Baer, you can have modern braking performance for your classic ride. And they fit behind a variety of wheel sizes, so no matter which look you are going for with your wheel and tire combo, they have a system that will fit, look great, and stop better than you ever though possible. There just isn’t any reason to try and piece together a stock style disc brake system anymore unless you are going for the completely stock restored look. And even then, if you want to you can hide some of these systems behind factory steel wheels so nobody even knows they are there.

I’ve got a set going on my 1969 Camaro, because I’m not going with big wheels and tires and didn’t need giant brakes to get the performance I want in this car.

Check it out.

Video Description:

Born on the racetrack, Baer Brakes thrives on innovation, performance and safety. But they’re not stopping there. Today, Baer Brakes is expanding beyond the track to serve a wider range of vehicles and customers who demand top-notch braking solutions. They’re on a mission to redefine stopping in-style!

In response to demand, Baer has reintroduced the original Baer Claw system with the Classic Series providing a modern brake kit that fits smaller wheels without breaking the bank. They offer front and rear kits for early Ford, GM and Mopar classic car applications.

Chip Foose is well known for being the guy that reimagines cars and trucks into what some consider the best versions of themselves. He nips and tucks and stylizes the best attributes of a car or truck design to make the biggest visual impact, without taking away from what the car started out to be. With that said, he’s also all about making sure the heritage and character of a car are preserved whenever possible, and that has never been more apparent than with this awesome 1932 Ford Todor that he picked up recently.

This old Ford is a spectacular barn find that is in amazing shape and what he’s doing is more cleaning than anything else. But what is awesome is the kind of changes that some elbow grease and a little bit of barn find secret sauce can make to the overall look. We love it, and I have to say that if it was mine there are very few things I’d do to it before driving it as often as possible.

When it comes to classic Corvettes their styling is iconic, their performance the stuff that can make you smile, but their steering systems are kind of a nightmare. Using a hydraulic ram and valve system they’re kind of sloppy, they typically leak like a sieve, and for a sporting car, they are numb and just not quite up to the modern standard. If you want to make all that stuff better our pals at Borgeson have the answer.

You can convert the car to a really nice Borgeson box that provides more feedback, a much better ratio, and highly precise steering beyond anything the stock method can provide. If you are going to actually drive your car and maybe compete with it, this is a really nice way to upgrade the performance and driving experience. It also will last you the life of the car and well into the next one because Borgeson manufactures their parts with materials and tolerances that far exceed what was available at the time these classics were built.

This video is cool because we see the stock system and the install of the Borgeson system and it’s all a really nice setup.

A huge portion of the fans of Dirthead Dave, and the Dirthead Shed YouTube Channel, know him as the off-road guy who builds cool stuff and loves being outside climbing over rocks and playing in the dirt. And they are right, cause that is totally a Dave thing. But many of them have no idea about his past as a hardcore mini trucker. Or how big of a part of that scene his been in his life at least. He’s a member of Negative Camber, one of the most influential and famous truck clubs. Sure, they see his Nissan Hardbody in the background of many of his videos, and have seen some work happen to it in the past year, but this video here will show you just how much this dude loves a great mini and specifically this one of his that he’s been working on for several years. The reaction to making it run and driving it out of the shop under its own power for the first time in forever is awesome.

I’m a mini trucker, and there are a lot of you out there that know that. So I love mini truck content on Dave’s channel and I hope you do too, because the Nissan is getting closer and closer to being a driver that will start attending shows again. Mark my words, this thing is going to a show this summer for sure. Watch the video and we’ll bring more!

Video Description:

Can’t stop the momentum now! I couldn’t help but make the Body dropped Nissan truck start, steer, and stop. With a few days of work I was able to get this cool little cruiser to drive out of the shop under its own power for the first time in two years! What a good feeling getting a long term project to this milestone. Hope you dig it!

In the past few years, ceramic coatings have become all the rage. Getting your car ceramic coated will give you results like an awesome wax, but with a lot more durability. So you have to do it far less, some say never again, others every five years, and some say you should use them once a season like a good wax. It totally depends on the product you choose, but the prices for this stuff vary a ton. There are places out there doing ceramic coating applications, along with clear paint protection films, that charge thousands of dollars. So when Project Farm put out this new video about DIY ceramic coatings, we had to share it.

In this video you’ll see a wide range of ceramic coating brands with products that start at just $8 and go up to $120. That’s a huge range! Will the cheap stuff be able to keep up? Or is the high dollar stuff just hype and marketing? You know we love a low buck winner around here, and Project Farm does the best DIY testing around so lets see what he comes up with.

Video Description:

Brands: Adam’s, Nano Bond, Hybrid Solutions, Advanced Graphene, Cerakote, Chemical Guys, Topcoat F11Pro, Shine Armor. Ceramic coatings compared for slickness and durability after exposure to warm water, hot water, and various chemicals. I purchased all of the products and never accept sponsorships or free products. So, thanks for supporting the channel.

I’ve bought two cars in my life that made me wonder if I should have. The first turned out epic, and as soon as I started mocking it up during the build, any doubts left my mind. It would turn out to be a REALLY smart buy. The second one will be awesome too, I hope, but was a deal that I couldn’t pass up and for a car I have wanted a long time.  But are there times when a car or truck just have too many strikes against them? Too many rust spots? Chassis damage? Or is just missing the stuff that is impossible to find? It’s way harder to build a car that nobody makes parts for!

Let’s see what Kevin Tetz says about this potential project, because this is the kind of walkaround everyone should do before buying a project vehicle.

Video Description:

I just watched a 1980 280ZX cross the block @mecum mecum_auctions for 231K!

Another 1981 for $150K… these cars are coming up in the market!!!

But, is this one too far gone? I tried not to be sucked in by the memories I have of these wonderful S130 cars, I had one many years ago… This one may be more than I bargained for… Would Vice Grip Garage rescue this car? Derek Bieri probably wouldn’t fit in it, but that’s besides the point.

All abandoned cars are worth at least TRYING to save, right?

I own two trailers, both of which are wood decked, and I’ve really only wished for one of them to have a steel deck on a couple of occasions. When you consider that I bought the trailer in question, a 1994 Carson, brand new and have only replaced the wood on it twice I’d say I’ve been pretty happy with it. But when the wood starts to go, it does kinda suck. I’ll have to put new wood on that trailer this year, but if I was buying another one I’d probably get wood again. It’s nicer when it is wet, it is more flexible when it comes to being able to attach tie down points, etc, etc. But this isn’t about wood vs steel. Nope, this is about preserving the wood that you have on your deck, and in this Bleepin Jeep video he puts this old school method to the test.

I’ve seen folks do this on wood trailers, wood bed floors, and more. So let’s see what the fuss is all about.

Video Description:

How To Keep Wood From Rotting For FREE. You can use this technique on fences, gates, trailers, decks, outdoor furniture, or just about any outdoor wood. After that we’ll take a look at the modifications to my trailer over the years that have made it better.

When folks hear that a muscle car, classic, or classic truck has original paint it is usually a good thing. But we sometimes assume that original paint is still shiny and at least pretty good looking. The truth is that there are lots of cars out there with original paint that is NOT shiny. Hell, my 1956 Chevrolet station wagon looks like you drug it out of a field this morning, and doesn’t have a single shiny spot on it. But every body part, with the exception of the hood, has the original paint on it. I doubt mine could be polished back to life, without applying a clear coat. But what if the paint was in better shape, without much surface rust or chalking? Could it be polished back to life? Or at least improved upon?

In the video below, Dan from DD Speed Shop is going at the paint on a 1957 Chevrolet that still has original paint on it. I want to see just how this turns out and I’m sure you do too.

Video Description:

Last video we stripped all the hand lettering off the 1957 Chevy. We caused a little damage that required a little paint work and some buffing. I blended in a little paint then “patina’d” it up before giving the whole car a nice buffing. It always amazes me how 60 year old original paint shines up so nice.
