Okay gang, it’s time to start working on this thing. Derek and Dave decided to get their thrash on to see how finished they can get this thing for Derek to take it to the Nashville stop on Hot Rod’s Power Tour. Derek called in Dirthead Dave Chappelle for his expertise on the air ride and such, but also because Dave is committed to making this thing be a Ford again instead of having a Mopar engine up front and a bunch of other hodgepodge parts.

I love the look of this thing, but it sure doesn’t work well. It’s got a hodgepodge of parts in it and now it is time for Derek to get it fixed up the right way so it can be driven more. You are going to dig where it is going and the thrash that they are putting into it in order to get it ready to rock at Hot Rod’s Power Tour.

Here’s the video from Derek, and there is more video coming from Dave as well!

In the last video or two, Brent worked on several different things and ultimately got the air ride system in the truck and working which we so dig. In this one he’s finishing up some work on the custom rocker panel running boards for this thing, which means making cutouts so the doors can still open. It’s a cool look but takes some fiddling to make it right. And he’s trying to decide on a set of wheels and tires for this project! Are these the right ones? This is one cool project and you are going to dig it. There is so much more to come, but we hope this video inspires you to get out in the shop to work on your stuff too. Check it out and let us know what you think.

This project is one that Brent has had sitting around for some time and has just been waiting to get back onto it. It isn’t your average 1949 GMC, as it is mounted on a modified Caprice chassis and has had the top chopped off of it. The plan is for it to have a removable Carson style top, lots of custom metal work, and more. It’s going to be a full custom style ride but that means it needs A LOT of work. One thing I find funny is that while in most circumstances you want to start a project with the cleanest and straightest ride you can, but when you are building a custom that is going to get a lot of custom metal work anyway, then why not start with something rough? This truck certainly qualifies.

In previous videos, Brent pancaked the hood on this thing, modified the fenders, planned out the bumper, shortened the chassis, shaved stuff, built a one off custom bed and more. There is a lot going on with this project and a lot planned for this thing, although to say that might make you think there is a whole list of what is going to happen to it. But that isn’t exactly Brent’s speed. He works as he goes, tries stuff to see how it looks, and will cut and weld and remove and replace, until it has the look he wants. We love it and it is inspiring.

Sometimes you come across potential projects that just look too weird and messed up to be saved. This C10 is one of them. With a top that has been “chopped” in all the wrong ways, and all kinds of other weirdness going on, it is pretty easy to discount this thing as a lost cause, but it does have some good parts and pieces that make you want to at least save part of it. Or do you cut out the wacky and make it something fun but less weird? These are the questions going through Newbern’s head as he grabs hold of another “project” at his friend Bert’s house and takes it home. Will it just be parts? Will it actually be a running and driving machine again? Let’s see what he figures out.

You’ll laugh because even his kid is busting his balls about another project vehicle. I love it, and feel his pain.

Video Description:

On this episode we visit my friend Bert, who has a truck he wants to part with. Instead of this truck going to the junkyard I figured we could do something with it, I just don’t know what. Its a 1969 C30 that someone chopped the top on. The floors in this truck are mint! What do we do with it?

We talk about junkyard LS engines all the time around here, and I’ve personally had LS powered vehicles with nearly 300,000 miles on them. Hell, one of them gave up it’s engine for one of Richard Holdener’s Big Bang projects and made over 1,400 horsepower on the original rods, pistons, rings, bearings, and crankshaft, with over 279,000 miles on them. So let’s say you find a 250,000 to 300,000 mile Silverado that runs and drives but could use some love. Is it worth fixing it up a bit in order to make it into a nice driver?

In this video from Project Farm, he’s going to take his analytic approach to deciding what is worth fixing up and what isn’t. I think you can save a lot of vehicles, if I didn’t I wouldn’t be a hot rodder, but that doesn’t mean they are always a smart project. So what do we think?

Let’s watch the video and see what his conclusions are and how that fits with what we, as hot rodders, think.

Video Description:

Most people get rid of vehicles well before 300,000 miles, often times due to concerns about reliability. So, let’s go through a vehicle that has over 300,000 miles on it from top to bottom and front to back to prepare this vehicle for another 100,000 reliable miles! Includes rust repair, front end rebuild, complete tune up, axle hub bearing replacement, fluid changes, new brakes and rotors, front end alignment, headlight bulb replacement, MAF sensor cleaning, tensioner pulley bearing replacement, fan clutch replacement, axle seal replacement, and A/C freon level check.

I purchased all of the parts and supplies used for this vehicle. So, thank you for supporting the channel!

The rear needs lowering just like the front, so he’s installing a complete Ridetech system on this survivor truck. Then he’s going to make it louder and faster of course, but first things first.

In case you missed it, we’ve got the link to the video showing Finnegan getting this truck here in Texas and driving it home below, but if you did see it then you know this super clean low mileage OBS truck is going to be something special. But what is Finnegan going to do to it? He says it is going to the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, so he had better get cracking on this bad boy.

Dude… this thing is awesome! I’m a sucker for Studebaker trucks as some of you well know, and this one that has just hit the yard at Nobody Else’s Auto is great! This thing is in super shape, has extra parts, and is a real deal V8 automatic truck from 1954. The Studebaker overhead valve V8 is a cool engine and this truck has such amazing potential. Plus look at the cool vent shades for the doors! I’ve never seen ones that look to be this old but I dig them. Watch as Chad walks us around this thing and shows off the details. If you need parts or a whole project like this, Chad is your dude. His contact information is below.

Video Description:

This is a really unique little pickup truck! This was a trade in on the 1950 Studebaker Bullet Nose Convertible that I had!

This little pickup is definitely different!!!!

There weren’t very many V-8 automatic pickups around in the mid 50’s!!!!

This little pickup is still pretty complete with a lot of good pieces still left on it! Let’s go check it out!

If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos!

Please subscribe so you can keep up with the new videos as I post them!

If you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, 8 AM-8 PM CST, no texts, no e-mails, no messenger, no smoke signals, calls only.

If I don’t answer, I’m probably on the phone with someone else and if you don’t leave me a message, I just assume you’re another telemarketer trying to sell me an extended warranty! LOL!

If you comment, message, text, e-mail, etc., don’t expect me to find it and don’t expect an answer.

If you missed Part 1, 2, or 3 of this 1953 Chevrolet truck chop, we’ve got a link below to make sure you see them too. But now that the top is chopped, it is time to section the hood as well. Some folks call it pancaking the hood, but section is the most appropriate term as he’ll be taking a section out of the hood to make it shorter and flatter and smoother looking. It’s a custom touch that has been around since metal shaping became a thing in the hot rod and custom world and we dig it. Check it out.

I’m a sucker for a chopped top on a 54 and earlier car or truck, but have never actually done one myself. I’ve fixed some bad sheet metal and welding on a couple, but never actually chopped something that was perfectly fine to start with. So when I see someone cutting stuff up, it makes me happy and jealous and I know it does the same thing for you guys. So in this video from Carter Auto Restyling, a new 1953 Chevrolet truck project is coming together and that means chopping the top. A bunch. But is a bunch too much? I’m excited to see just how this thing will look when it is all finished, but you’ll get a real rundown on how to plan for one right here. This is a cool project, and who doesn’t love this body style of Chevy pickup? Round fenders are cool and I think I’m going to want one of these before this series is over.

Check it out and let us know what you think.

How many times have you seen a potential project somewhere, only to realize that even though the body is savable it doesn’t have a single piece of trim on it that isn’t all banged up? It can be the thing that makes someone pass up a project, and it is one of the reasons why folks buy parts cars and then end up parting them out after they use the trim. But what if you could straighten out some of that trim on your own? In this video from Carter Auto Restyling you will get a lesson in not only restoring a piece of trim, but also how to modify it for the chop they have done on this particular Chevy pickup.

Video Description:

In this video we will fix some badly dented stainless steel trim. Then we will have to chop and tig weld it back together to fit on our radical custom 1953 Chevy Truck project.
