Okay gang, it’s time to start working on this thing. Derek and Dave decided to get their thrash on to see how finished they can get this thing for Derek to take it to the Nashville stop on Hot Rod’s Power Tour. Derek called in Dirthead Dave Chappelle for his expertise on the air ride and such, but also because Dave is committed to making this thing be a Ford again instead of having a Mopar engine up front and a bunch of other hodgepodge parts.

I love the look of this thing, but it sure doesn’t work well. It’s got a hodgepodge of parts in it and now it is time for Derek to get it fixed up the right way so it can be driven more. You are going to dig where it is going and the thrash that they are putting into it in order to get it ready to rock at Hot Rod’s Power Tour.

Here’s the video from Derek, and there is more video coming from Dave as well!

Who doesn’t love a chopped 1935 Ford pickup truck? Well whoever owns it when it doesn’t run or drive well enough to be fun, that’s who. And in this case it’s Derek from Vice Grip Garage. I love the look of this thing, but it sure doesn’t work well. It’s got a hodgepodge of parts in it and now it is time for Derek to get it fixed up the right way so it can be driven more. He’s pulling in some help from some friends, which I love, so stay tuned for the next couple of videos on this project as well. You are going to dig where it is going and the thrash that they are putting into it in order to get it ready to rock at Hot Rod’s Power Tour.

Video Description:

Does the 1935 ford still run? It’s currently 318 mopar powered, and running terribly bad. Let’s crawl it into the barn, and come up with a plan to build it much better!

Chopping a top, regardless of the car or truck, takes some real work. And the bigger and rounder the roof, the tougher it is to chop and make look right. That means that if all you have to do is chop a windshield frame, it should be really simple right? Technically, maybe, but you still have to decide on the right amount of chop to make the whole thing look right. And it does take more than a sawzall to make this happen as well. So here’s how Mike and Matt pull off a chop like this.

In this update on the Iron Trap Garage 1938 Ford Convertible project, Matt and the crew are “shaving” the trunk lid and adding an old school popper to make it open on command. This is an old hot rod build after all, so they are trying to finish it off like the original builder might have done back in the day. With the chop top, front and rear lowering job, new 331 Caddy for power, body mods, and a custom dual exhaust, this thing is looking and sounding right. There’s still a lot of good things to come on this project, but the recent bumper and hood mods made a huge difference to the looks overall and I’m sure the shaved deck lid will help too.

In a previous videos we shared the 1938 Ford Convertible Hot Rod that the guys at Iron Trap Garage found stashed away in an old garage, gave a first wash, and discovered had a seized engine. But lucky for them, they had a bitchin 331 Caddy they scored that would work great after some firewall massaging. Then the rear axle to get some love cause this thing was not good, and they lowered the rear in the process. If you missed any of the previous videos in this series, use the link below to check them all out.

You have to think that if there are barn finds of all kinds that still show up today, not all of them are going to just be regular driver cars. What I mean by this is that some of them have to be hot rods too, right? I realize that you’d think most of the hot rods would keep being passed along, but I know I’ve got projects that haven’t seen the light of day in 10 years, so it is conceivable that this same thing could happen to other folks hot rods and that we’ll have barn find hot rods too. And that is exactly what happened with this 1938 Ford Convertible. It hasn’t been on the road since 1973 and is a hot rod that had an engine swap and more.

Chip Foose is well known for being the guy that reimagines cars and trucks into what some consider the best versions of themselves. He nips and tucks and stylizes the best attributes of a car or truck design to make the biggest visual impact, without taking away from what the car started out to be. With that said, he’s also all about making sure the heritage and character of a car are preserved whenever possible, and that has never been more apparent than with this awesome 1932 Ford Todor that he picked up recently.

This old Ford is a spectacular barn find that is in amazing shape and what he’s doing is more cleaning than anything else. But what is awesome is the kind of changes that some elbow grease and a little bit of barn find secret sauce can make to the overall look. We love it, and I have to say that if it was mine there are very few things I’d do to it before driving it as often as possible.

Puddin’s new Model A project sure is a good looking car, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some issues hiding below the skin. We’re looking forward to seeing this thing go from being a restoration to being a full blown traditional hot rod and in the third video he found some rust and had to start making repairs. Well, he’s back at it with more sheet metal replacement. This time he’s doing custom sheet metal floors, since these would have been wood originally.

Puddin’s Fab Shop is one of our regular haunts on YouTube and regulars to the channel will know that he’s had a Model A Ford sitting out behind his shop, waiting for its turn to get built. That’s why he called it the Someday Model A. But there have been some changes to the plan and that means another Model A is coming into the shop. You gotta check this out, because this is going to be one cool project for sure.

And do you prefer a full fendered hot rod or a fenderless hot rod?

Okay, this is pretty cool right here. I’m a Chevrolet guy to the core, but my favorite body style of Mustang is the fastback and particularly the 1967 and 1968 models. So when I saw this video showing converting a notch to a fastback I had to check it out. To do this complete transformation in just three days seems crazy but when you watch the video you see just how this all goes together.

Check it out and see if you think you could pull this off in three days too.

Video Description:

In this video we set out to convert a coupe to a fastback in a weekend. This was a father/son project car that I teamed up to help convert to a fastback. What a great experience! I wasn’t building their dream car…WE WERE. I’m much more interested in building a dream WITH someone rather than FOR someone. I’d do it again.
